Poem – Mary’s Love

MARY’S LOVE by JUDI PAYNE

(judipayne@rogers.com)
As Mary gazed upon His face
The angels sang 'A Child is born!'
Yet at the cross,
She saw His precious head with crown of thorn

The hands that she once held in hers,
Were mailed upon the tree.
She watched Him take His early steps;
Those feet were pierced for me!

With a mother's love she nourished Him
And made sure He was fed;
Yet, at the cross, she heard Him cry
'I thirst' and bow His head.

And when He cried 'It's finished'
They pierced His precious side
And we, like Mary, worship;
'Twas for me the Saviour died!

They placed Him in a borrowed tomb
With stone rolled to the door
But, Hallelujah!, Christ arose!
And lives for evermore!
