The Glorious Gospel

You are reading this page, because you saw and clicked on the title ‘What is the Glorious Gospel’.

The expression and domain name are taken from the Bible and the words were written by the Apostle Paul to a young Christian named Timothy. The verse reads as follows:

1Timothy 1:11 According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.

The Apostle Paul, who was called of God to be a gospel preacher, was given a message from God for the whole world. As Paul thinks upon this message he calls it ‘the glorious gospel’ due to who had given him this message. Paul sums it up by stating the source of this message as, ‘the blessed God’! The meaning behind the phrase ‘the blessed God’ is, the God who desires to bless.

I do not know your thoughts toward God, but I do know from the Bible the thoughts of God toward you. He is, according to John 17:3,’…the only true God…’ and 1Timothy 4:10’…the living God, who is the Saviour of all men…’ Paul himself, in the book of the Acts and chapter 9, tells us how he met this blessed God and as a result he became a Christian and gave his life to God. Shortly after this Paul started to preach the glorious gospel of the blessed God. Paul himself sums up the entire message in another portion of the Bible in a letter that he wrote to Christians in a city called Corinth. We can read these wonderful words in 1Corinthians 15:1-4,

1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

2 By which also ye are saved…

3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

4 And that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

No person could summarize the greatest message of all time better than that. This message that has come from the living God is not a message for mankind but the message for mankind. No other message is able to bring hope, life and forgiveness of sins.

The Bible is very clear as to how everyone of us have entered this world. According to the words of Romans 3:23 ‘For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God’, we are all born sinners and as a result we commit sins. According to the Bible there are consequences in time for sin and judgment in the afterlife for sin. The book of Numbers ( in the Old Testament part of the Bible) has some very solemn words for us, Numbers 32:32’…be sure your sin will find you out.’ The Bible is very clear as well, that everyone will exit this world in one of two ways. You will either leave this world with your sins and the wrath of God upon you or you will leave this world with your sins forgiven and the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour. Once again we look to the Bible to prove this point. Notice the words of John 3:36,

36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

On the authority of the Word of God, the Bible, there are only two types of people in the world, those that know the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour and those who don’t. I ask you the simple question, ‘Which group are you in?’ Take a few moments and think about that question as you look over the chart below which illustrates the above verses in a picture form.

The Bible places those two groups of people on two different roads. Those who are Christians, ones who have trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour, are on the Narrow Way that leads to Heaven. Those who remain the way they entered this world, as sinners, are on the Broad Way that leads to Hell and Judgment. One of the most important items on that chart is ‘The Door’. If you have a Bible, please turn to the words of John 10:9 and read for yourself the words of Jesus Christ. John 10:9,

9 I am the door: by Me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

Many people will try and tell us that membership in a church is the way to Heaven or that baptism is the way. Others think that living a good life or giving your money to charity will take you to Heaven. All of these things are wrong according to that simple verse of John 10:9. Jesus Christ is the only person that can take you to Heaven. He alone is the One that can take a sinner off of the Broad Way and place them on the Narrow Way that leads to Heaven.  I need to ask you dear reader, have you ever understood from the Bible that you are a helpless sinner in need of God’s Salvation? Have you every understood from the Bible the reason why Jesus Christ died? Have you a moment in your life when you entered or passed through the Door to Heaven? Are you able to say ‘I am saved and ready for Heaven?’

As the writer of this article, I can tell you that I discovered on April 4,1990 that I was a sinner in need of The Saviour. I discovered that my sins were taking me to Hell and that I was helpless to do anything about it. It was also on that day that I understood from the Bible that Jesus Christ did all that was needed to take away my sin when He died on the Cross of Calvary for me. In a moment of time I left the Broad Way and entered the Narrow Way by taking in that the Lord Jesus Christ was my Savior and for the first time in my life I entered in through the Door to Heaven by simple faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
