(21) The love of money is the root…

1 Timothy 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

One day a old rich man of a miserable disposition visited a preacher, who took the rich man by the hand to a window. ‘Look out there, what do you see?’ he asked. The rich man answered, ‘I see men, woman and children’. The preacher took the rich man to a mirror and asked the question, ‘What do you see?’ The rich man replied, ‘I see myself.’ The wise preacher said, ‘In the window there is glass, and in the mirror there is glass. But the glass in the mirror is covered with a little silver, and no sooner is the silver added and you cease to see others, but only yourself!’
